Research Services COVID-19 Impact Information

ITS Research Services (RS) wishes to share with the community the anticipated impacts of the COVID-19 events on RS operations.

  •  RS staff, per the request of university administration, are working remotely.

While we believe this will have minimal impact on operations, this could affect restoration of services should an outage occur with the Large Scale Storage Service, high-performance computing (HPC) or Interactive Data Analytics services. Information regarding outages and service restoration will be available at as usual.

  • Supply chain shortages and redirection of campus resources will impact expansion of services.

RS anticipates adequate capacity for HPC and Large Scale Storage services. However, staff and equipment availability is limited at this time, and the purchase of any new HPC and dedicated storage systems will be delayed.

  • RS expects to support remote research work to the best of its ability with existing services.

HPC, Interactive Data Analytics, Large Scale Storage, and Research Remote Desktop services are expected to remain available to the community. However, RS staff may work with individuals to prioritize usage by entities outlined in the message from the Office of the Vice President for Research titled, "COVID-19 Ramp Down."
