Network Hardware Failure impacts IDAS, HPC, and LSS Saturday 8-10AM 02/06/2021

Network Outage on Saturday 2/6 2021 8-10AM impacts IDAS, LSS and Argon HPC

Update: This work was completed and LSS, IDAS and HPC systems should be available. 

Research Services was informed of an failing piece of networking equipment located at one of the Data Centers which house Large Scale Storage and Argon HPC environments.

The Network Services team will stage a replacement device and intends to move this into place tomorrow morning.  The impact will be loss of connectivity for anyone connecting to itf-store** LSS systems, and, the loss of HPC jobs running in the cluster.

IDAS users who are using LSS shares may also notice an impact, but, the general IDAS service is not impacted by this outage.


The failed equipment replacement will take ~60 minutes and we will notify here when the work is complete.

UPDATE: Network Services is planning on performing this work between 8-10AM on Saturday.

This outage was communicated and identified very quickly by the Network Services team and they have identified actions to repair the affected devices as quickly as is possible.
