BIOS:7600:0003 Advanced Biostatistics Seminar, March 13-May 1, 2019 (except March 20 which is during Spring Break)
To develop insight from what we call "big data," researchers must go through a series of data analysis phases, such as data collection, manipulation, storage, analysis and visualization. Among programming languages and software tools that are commonly used for data analysis, Python has been widely-adopted and is known for its usability.
In this course, students will learn Python basics at every phase of big data analysis and will have a chance to experience social media analysis with real data that they collect from Twitter--one of the most popular sources for social media analysis--by applying text mining and visualization techniques.
This seminar will be held Wednesdays from 3:15-5:00 p.m. The primary instructor is Kang Pyo Lee (UI3/ITS-Research Services)
